Sharon Cooper - Concertmaster

Violinist & Violist, Sharon is an active freelance musician in southern and central California. She started lessons at age 7, studied chamber music a San Francisco Conservatory and holds a BA degree in Music from Stanford University.


She has performed throughout California, Arizona, Europe and Australia in numerous recitals, chamber ensembles, theater productions, orchestras and civic events. Sharon has performed solo works with symphonies including Moorpark, Valley (LA), New Valley and Antelope Valley. She has also been featured soloist with the Channel Islands and Palo Alto Chamber Orchestras, Lompoc Pops, Ventura Baroque, Santa Maria Philharmonic, Symphony of the Canyons, Junior Bach Festival (Berkeley) and on KQED Public Television in San Francisco. Concert series showcasing Sharon’s solo and chamber recitals included the Mt Cross (Camarillo), St Patrick’s (Thousand Oaks), Ojai Art Centre, Lompoc Music Association, Moorpark Orchestra Chamber Series, and the Beethoven Festival (Santa Barbara). She is regularly concertmistress of the 5-Star Theatricals (Thousand Oaks), Lompoc Pops Orchestra and Moorpark Symphony. Her solo violin has been heard emanating from theater pits in Ventura, LA, Santa Barbara and Orange Counties as well as Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona.


Sharon can frequently be heard on diverse musical recordings including the soundtracks of Fox TV’s animated features as well as movies and theater original cast recordings. She has performed with many including David Benoit, Seth MacFarlane, Electric Light Orchestra, riders of the Purple Sage, Frank Sinatra Jr, David Gates, Oleta Adams, Duke Ellington and the Modern Jazz Quartet.


Sharon has extensive teaching experience in her own private studio, the masterclass forum and the classroom. She loves sharing her passion for the violin, viola, orchestral technique and chamber music with players of all ages from early years on their instruments to experienced professionals. Sharon is also a partner in ownership of Cyndi Hall’s Music Studio.
