Geri Freeland, PhD

President, Founding Member

Geralyn J. Freeland, Ph.D, is Co-principal bassoonist of the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Freeland is a happily retired clinical psychologist who brings a wealth of orchestral and chamber music experience to the orchestra, having played in Los Angeles and Ventura County for over four decades.  She studied bassoon under John Campbell and Alan Goodman, and has served as vice president and youth outreach coordinator for two other orchestra boards of directors prior to her accepting the president position with MSO.   She enjoys playing music with Dr. Stephen Burch, husband and violist extraordinaire.

Roger Mason

Vice-President, Founding Member

Roger Mason has served as principal trumpet with the MSO for over 25 years and as an adjunct faculty member at Moorpark College. His music education began at Cal State Northridge University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Trumpet Performance. For the past 30 years Roger has been a church musician in Los Angeles. He is a member of the Grace Community Church Brass Ensemble and the Grace Community Church Orchestra. He is one of the MSO musicians who played in US military bands.  While pursuing a civilian career in public safety Roger served 37 years as a reservist in the US Air Force and Air National Guard band programs. He has performed worldwide with US Air Force Bands including the US Air Force Band of Europe Brass Ensemble. In 2007 he deployed with the US Air Force Central Command Band to Operation Iraqi Freedom. Roger has a PhD in management and is co-owner and vice president of LECMgt, a consulting firm in Camarillo, Ca.

Jeff Smith

Treasurer, Founding Member

Clarinetist with the Moorpark Symphony for the past four years, Jeff received his musical training at California State University, Northridge and Cal Arts. Jeff holds a bachelors degree in finance and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Lisa Febre

Secretary, Webmaster, Founding Member

Lisa Febre joined the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra in 2010 as an oboist. She studied at the Eastman School of Music in the Preparatory Department, and received a Bachelor of Music (Oboe Performance) from Ithaca College. For 10 years, she was Instructor of Woodwinds at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (North Adams, MA). She has performed from coast to coast as a freelance musician beginning in 1996 with the Binghamton Philharmonic, Albany Symphony, Berkshire Symphony, Berkshire Bach Society, Massachusetts Wind Orchestra, Sage Symphony (Bennington, VT) and was featured soloist several times with the Taconic Chamber Orchestra; she relocated to Las Vegas in 2006 where she played with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, Southern Nevada Chamber Orchestra, "Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular" on all woodwinds, and eventually moved to Los Angeles in 2010 when she began performing with the San Fernando Valley Symphony, Moorpark Symphony, and freelancing around the greater Los Angeles area as well as working in the studios recording winds for various movie and television soundtracks. In 2012, she suffered an injury that would end her oboe career. But always the flexible musician, she took up the cello, an instrument she’d always dreamed of learning, and returned to MSO in 2017 as a part of the cello section, and now enjoys a new career as a freelance cellist. Stephen Burch, DMA

Education Advisor, Founding Member

Stephen Burch, DMA (viola) has played with the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra for over a decade. He has a BA in composition and theory, a master’s degree in commercial music, and a doctorate in music education. He also holds national music teaching certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, with an emphasis in orchestra music. Stephen sits on the California Department of Education Visual and Performing Arts committee, and occasionally supervises music education student teachers for the University of California. He recently retired from full time teaching for the Los Angeles Unified School District, and continues to be involved in music education and community music advocacy. His favorite thing about the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra is listening to his wife (Geri Freeland) play the bassoon.

Andy Siditsky

Board Member, Marketing Founding Member

Trumpeter, has been a member of the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra since 2013.  He is a graduate of Mannes College Of Music where he studied trumpet with Gerard Schwarz, William Vacchiano, and Mel Broiles. Andy has performed at the Aspen Music Festival and as a professional performer in New York with many orchestras and music ensembles.  He left performing to pursue a marketing career, first in music publishing and then in the film entertainment industry.  A 30 year veteran of The Walt Disney Studios, he was Sr.VP of Worldwide Creative Services, overseeing creative and marketing content for all Home Entertainment releases. Andy has won numerous industry awards in every creative discipline for marketing, advertising, packaging, display and overall innovation.  He continues as a consultant to develop marketing creative in the entertainment industry, while also pursuing his love of music. Andy has also been a guest residency at the University Of Pacific Conservatory Of Music where he has coached and instructed entertainment marketing to music business majors, film studies majors, and MBA candidates at the Eberhardt School Of Business.

Sharon Cooper

Board Member, Concertmaster, Founding Member

Violinist and violist, is an active freelance musician in southern and central California.  She started lessons at age 7, studied chamber music at San Francisco Conservatory and holds a BA degree in Music from Stanford University. She has performed throughout California, Arizona, Europe and Australia in numerous recitals, chamber ensembles, theater productions, orchestras and civic events.  She has also been featured soloist with the Channel Islands and Palo Alto chamber orchestras, Lompoc Pops, Ventura Baroque, Santa Maria Philharmonic, Symphony of the Canyons, Junior Bach Festival (Berkeley) and on KQED Public Television in San Francisco.  Concert series showcasing Sharon's solo and chamber recitals included the Mt. Cross (Camarillo), St. Patrick's (Thousand Oaks), Ojai Art Centre, Lompoc Music Association, Moorpark Orchestra Chamber Series, and the Beethoven Festival (Santa Barbara).  She is regularly concertmistress of 5-Star Theatricals (Thousand Oaks), Lompoc Pops Orchestra and Moorpark Symphony.  Her solo violin has been heard emanating from theater pits in Ventura, LA, Santa Barbara and Orange counties as well as Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. Sharon can frequently be heard on diverse musical recordings including the soundtracks of Fox TV's animated features as well as movies and theater original cast recordings.  She has performed with many including David Benoit, Seth MacFarlane, Electric Light Orchestra, Riders of the Purple Sage, Frank Sinatra Jr., David Gates, Oleta Adams, Duke Ellington and the Modern Jazz Quartet. Sharon has extensive teaching experience in her own private studio, the masterclass forum and the classroom.  She loves sharing her passion for the violin and viola with players of all ages from early years on their instruments to experienced professionals.  Upon occasion, Sharon works at Westlake High and Los Cerritos Middle Schools (Thousand Oaks) as a strings specialist, coaching chamber music, string instrument and orchestra technique.  She's also a partner in Cyndi Hall's Music Studio Read more about Sharon

Cyndi Hall

Board Member, Founding Member

Violinist, is a native to Southern California.  Having picked up the violin as an adult, she never dreamed of performing as a professional musician.  Yet through hard work and discipline she found herself performing in her church orchestra after just eight months on her violin.  Within four years she was performing in symphonies, teaching, and pursuing a second Bachelors Degree in music, her first two being a BS in Psychology from California State University, Northridge and an AS degree in Math and Science from College of the Canyons.  Her coaches have included Miwako Watanabe, Diane Gilbert, Leslie Katz and Sharon Cooper. Cyndi has performed in symphonies, orchestras and musical theaters throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties for the past 14 years. She can be heard as a studio musician on numerous Fox animated television recordings such as American Dad, Family Guy, Cleveland and King of the Hill, and has performed with the Walter Murphy Orchestra, Ron Jones Influence Orchestra, Seth McFarlane Live to tape variety show.  She is currently co-founder of Hollywood Impact Studios, a ministry and organization that uses the art of television and film making to transform lives by providing a training ground where Hollywood professionals both teach and mentor incarcerated men within the LA County prison system, in order to identify and develop life skills and individual talents with the result of producing men who are both functional in society, and able to successfully work in the entertainment industry, or profession of their choosing upon re-entry into the community. Hollywood Impact Studios has received recognition from the LA County Sheriff's Department, Lee Baca, and LA county Supervisor, Fifth District, Michael Antonovich. Rhondda Dayton

Board Member, Founding Member

Rhondda Dayton is currently Principal Flute with the Moorpark Symphony Orchestra, Westlake Village Symphony, Ventura County Gilbert & Sullivan Repertoire, and Five Star Theatricals pit orchestras. In 2018 Rhondda premiered California Places, a flute concerto written for her by Terence P. Minogue.  California Places was also featured on the CD A California Day, released in 2017.  Rhondda has also been a featured soloist with various LA area orchestras and was principal flute for the internationally televised Hour of Power Orchestra at the Crystal Cathedral, the Haydn Festival Orchestra (Vienna, Austria), and the Global Community Orchestra (HI). Rhondda has performed at various National Flute Assoc. conventions throughout the US with the Professional Flute Choir and Pipe Dream Flutes, who performed several world premiere commissions.  Rhondda is the Artistic Director and Founder of Pipe Dream Flutes/Pipe Dream Flutes and Friends. She can be heard on National Flute Choir CDs, on Celine Dion's Grammy award winning These are Special Times (vocals), The Professional Christian Wind Ensemble, and on many Terence P. Minogue CDs.
